DECLARATION OF HABITUAL TRUANCY Date:

_________________: It has come to the
attention of the Plumas County District Attorney’s Office that on
_________________ you were notified that your child,
_____________________, was declared a
truant because of excess and/or unexcused absences and/or tardiness.
There have now been
at least two additional absences or tardies on ____________ and
_______________, so that your child is considered an habitual truant
within the meaning of Section 48262 of the Education Code.
This matter may now be referred to the School Attendance Review
Board
(S.A.R.B.) for action that may lead to serious legal consequences
for you and your child. Further,
this habitual truancy may now be considered evidence in a criminal
prosecution for violations of Penal Code Sections 272 and 270, among
others, which may result in substantial fines and/or incarceration. Due to this
situation a meeting has been scheduled for ___________ at ___________
a.m./p.m. with ______________________________. This meeting is
scheduled in an attempt to make one last effort to resolve this problem
without further action. If
this time is not convenient, please contact ________________ at (
